For some time, I had been eager to try printing on Hahnemühle Metallic canvas. This particular printing material has High-gloss premium inkjet coating with a unique, silvery-shimmering metallic effect.
Its Acid- and lignin-free, with a museum quality for high age resistance. A distinctive offering in the world of inkjet printing materials.
The distributor finally notified me that a roll of canvas was waiting for me at their store. I was very excited, and I hurried to collect the roll and promptly set it up my Canon ImagePrograph Pro4000 printer for the task ahead.
ICC Profile
While Hahnemühle provides an ICC profile that generally matches the canvas and printer combination, I strive for impeccable quality in my prints.
Therefore, I create a custom ICC profile for each of the type of papers I print at my studio. This involves printing four pages with 2033 color patches, in this case it will be 4 letter size canvas material.
Upon printing them, I will take them to be scanned by the paper distributer, who will generate a precise ICC profile tailored to my specific printer and this Hahnemühle canvas.
Once I receive and apply the custom ICC profile to my printer settings, I’m poised to print a long-awaited image that promises to be exceptional.
As I am sending the image to the printer, anxiety builds. The initial results of the colors I saw in the 2033 color patches were promising—the colors vivid and the details were crisp.
I patiently awaited the completion of the print job. Finally, after careful trimming, the image was beautifully framed, showcasing the unique metallic sheen of the Hahnemühle canvas.
As you can see the image stands out, and as I get closer, you can see the details glowing out, even a thin hair of fiber is visible, matching the large pixel count of the images and the resilience of the canvas to reproduce all this details.
