Montseny in Blue and White

Montseny in Blue and White

On the northern edge of Barcelona lies Montseny, a landscape that became a fleeting canvas of blue and white. Montseny in Blue and White is not only the name of a series, but also a memory of one extraordinary morning when weather, light, and chance aligned.

It was the winter of an unexpected reunion. Felipe Saginés, a photographer and friend who first led me to medium format, invited me to explore Montseny together.

The day before, the sky had offered only rain and discouragement.

Yet I have always believed that rain carries hidden possibilities. By dawn, the storm had lifted, leaving the mountain forest dressed in a fragile skin of ice.

Branches were sculpted sideways by the wind, each one frozen in motion, luminous against a sky cleared into brilliant blue. Traces of autumn lingered — brown leaves resting beneath streams, while the forest above glittered like glass.

By midday, the sun began its work, and the ephemeral whiteness vanished. Only the photographs remained.

This series captures more than ice on branches. It reflects a dialogue between impermanence and memory, between the fleeting beauty of a frozen dawn and the permanence of film.

In these images, Montseny in Blue and White becomes both a visual meditation and a reminder that time itself reveals, transforms, and erases.
