My photography journey, Fifth Milestone
After printing my images on the Analog world, having my analog captures converted to digital, I was able to use two distinct methods: Inkjet printing over fine art paper and laser printing over photographic paper.
The local office of Epson supported me for many years, giving access to their large format printers and providing paper & ink for the different exhibits I made in various exhibits.
I also used a local lab that had a Lambda machine, printing over photographic paper. They worked very well until 8 years ago where one of the color lasers burned, and the cost of the replacement versus the monthly volume of printing, made the repair unviable, shutting this machine. Having no other alternative to send my work to a NY / Germany lab, at a much higher cost.
Then Covid arrived, confined at home with not many options to photograph, decided to
Invest on a Canon large format printer, which became another milestone in my photography, as I was able to see on paper my work, polishing my color management notion, color calibrating the entire workflow and testing with various fine art papers; finally settling with Hahnemühle fine art papers. I started re-developing images and re-printing my personal image portfolio.
As a final note, throughout all the milestones that I have presented of my photography path; I always left time to learn new technics, reading books and seminars, and with the Internet explosion, had plenty training options as well as tools to enhance my work.
Eventually, new tools will arrive, which will become another milestone of my work.
